Imperial College London

Welcoming alumni while social distancing

Recorded via zoom, Sentio Space worked with Imperial College London to create a series of videos shared with alumni around the world, helping the community to thrive.

The Problem:

Imperial College London was unable to host alumni events to welcome its new graduates

The Solution:

Sentio Space interviewed current alumni and edited the footage down into engaging videos, along with a custom animated introduction

A collage of screenshots from the alumni we interviewed

A welcome video featuring interviews from 30 students in 20 different countries, all conducted via Zoom.

With the advances in mobile technology of recent years as well as the ability to enhance media in post-production, we were able to create a series of quality videos that included a global cast at the fraction of the cost of sending film crews to location. We used Zoom to ask the questions. At the same time, interviewees recorded the footage themselves using their phones, as recording quality is better on most smart phones than it is on zoom.

As well as a General welcome video, we created four regional videos: Americas; Middle East and Africa; Asia; and one for Europe.

We also developed this Gif based on
a landmark at Imperial: the Queen’s Building. It is shared via email to make the content more engaging.

Testimonial

We have had a great response from sharing the films. We’re so pleased with how warm and welcoming they are. Thanks so much for all your help editing down the footage. We were a victim of our own success. I definitely didn’t expect so many groups to participate!

Educational Institutions

Communicating with clarity and sensibility through online channels is now a defining feature of effective educational institutions. Animation is an increasingly popular route, as it allows diverse characters and multiple locations to be realised without the need of film crews and location scouts. Identities can be concealed when sensitivity is required. And it is at home with younger audiences.
